NORTH WEST 200 2009.
The NORTHERN COUNTIES SECTION would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped organise and maintain the unique display of motorcycles and memorabilia we had for the display. As this was a 3 day event it was necessary for some members to sleep in the marquee to provide security for the contents, not a good idea for some who are used to a nice cosy bed. Lighting, signage and displays all came together to form an impressive display of Racing Motorcycles and memorabilia from 1930 to present day, representing 80 years of NW200 history.
Even more impressive was the cost of entry - FREE. The section funded the cost of the marquee and relied greatly on hard work and volunteers. The display would not been possible without access to the machinery loaned from collectors from around the country, demonstrating the trust and faith that the club has earned in a short space of time.
Weather was not very favourable on some occasions, but warm tea/coffee and biscuits proved very popular at £1. This together with donations from visitors as they exited the display helped cover costs .
A BIG THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE TO ALL THOSE WHO HELPED.

SUNDAY 10th MAY. The Northern Counties Section held a motorcycle run (Timmy's Run) in memory of TIMOTHY STEWART who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident last May,
The day started at 11am with a BIKESAFE EVENT provided by the PSNI who assessed several riders, offering tips on safety and roadcraft. Then at 1pm, the up to 50 riders, set off from his hometown of Ballymoney, taking a scenic route to the NW200 and ARMOY road race circuits. Donations raised from this event went to the MITRE TRUST rehabilitation unit in Musgrave Hospital, Belfast. Several riders returned to the Stewart home after the event where the family provided a BBQ and refreshments as thank you to all involved.
Clifford and Hilary Stewart would like to thank everybody for their support, help and generosity on the day.
